"The last thing I want to do is be on the inside of a lockup. There are still people in some of them that I helped put there."
Appearance
He is a tall, lean Black man with an athletic build, long limbs, and a narrow waist. His deep brown complexion and angular face are complemented by a strong jaw and neatly trimmed dark beard, while his eyes remain mostly concealed beneath the shadow of a battered, wide-brimmed Fedora. His features are masculine and sharply defined, with a composed, unreadable expression. His overall appearance is refined but distinctly rugged.
He wears a dark charcoal three-piece suit with a subtle windowpane pattern, tailored close to his frame. A pale dress shirt, narrow black tie, and matching waistcoat create a restrained, old-fashioned elegance, accented by a metal watch chain. A long, dark overcoat falls nearly to his ankles, worn enough to appear lived-in while remaining well maintained. His left hand is covered by a black glove, contrasting with the otherwise formal character of his attire.
His posture is upright and relaxed, with squared shoulders and a slightly lowered head beneath the Fedora. His physique and clothing create a long, streamlined silhouette, reinforced by the extended lines of the overcoat and tailored trousers. The overall presentation combines traditional formalwear with a rugged, utilitarian quality. His appearance is defined by subdued colors, clean lines, understated details, and a restrained, self-possessed presence.

Mannerisms and Habits
Dresses in a style that is beyond just outdated, it's throwback to a century ago, if not consistently. Too many film noir streams before he decided to open up his private agency.
Background
Tobias grew up in Heywood the son of two low-level corporate workers, people who spent their lives keeping the machinery of other people's ambitions running. They weren't important enough to have real influence, nor poor enough to be invisible, and Tobias learned early that there was little protection in occupying the middle ground. In his early twenties, his parents were killed in a burst of gang violence that had nothing to do with them. The loss hardened something in him, but it also gave him a clear sense of what happens when ordinary people are left without anyone willing to stand between them and the worst parts of the city.
Tobias entered the police after completing his early training, eventually becoming a capable street officer in the Heywood precinct with a reputation for being thorough and difficult to intimidate. His career ended when his partner turned out to be deeply corrupt. Tobias was offered the usual choices: join in, look the other way, or become part of the problem. He refused all three. He wouldn't work the partner's schemes, but neither would he fabricate evidence or sell the man out simply to save his own career. The resulting mess cost him his badge and left him with little faith in institutional justice.
Since then, Tobias has made a living as a private investigator, operating under the handle TT in some circles. He technically takes investigations, but his real specialty is protection, recovery, and solving problems that have become too dangerous or complicated for ordinary investigators. He is as comfortable escorting a client through hostile territory, tracking down a missing person, or untangling a dangerous situation as he is conducting a conventional investigation. His police training remains the foundation of his work, tempered by years of experience learning exactly how far the law can, and sometimes cannot, be trusted.
Known Associations
- NCPD : Tobias was a several year member of the force in Heywood, and still knows a third of the cops by name. And they know him. Cuts both ways.
- Licensed Detective : It doesn't count for much, but he filled out the paperwork so that he at least has a thin slip of a license to replace the badge he once carried.
