= Rockerboy =

Everyone in Night City has something to say. A Rockerboy is the one who actually makes people listen. They're the street poets, the agitators, the ones who took the microphone, the spray can, or the stage back from the Megacorps and never gave it up. A Rockerboy doesn't need a New Mediacorp contract, a label deal, or a broadcast license. All they need is a message, an audience, and the nerve to put both in front of people who'd rather they stayed quiet. And if that doesnt work, Explosives make great backing tracks to the revolution.

__TOC__

== History ==

The Role takes its name from Rockerboy Manson, a musician and social activist beaten to death by police while performing on stage. His death didn't end the movement he started, it defined it. Every Rockerboy since has carried some piece of that same defiance: the belief that a song, a poem, a speech, or a painted wall can do what a gun can't, and that the people with the least power in Night City are still the ones who decide what gets remembered.

The Time of the Red gave the Role new tools. Digital porta-studios and garage mastering rigs mean a Rockerboy doesn't need a Corporate studio to record, mix, and release their own work. Upload it to the Data Pool and it's out there, bouncing off comsats, reaching an audience the old Megacorp media machine never would have touched. That independence is the whole point. A Rockerboy signed to a label answers to executives. A Rockerboy on the Street answers to nobody but their fans, and that's exactly how they like it.

Night City remembers what a Rockerboy at the height of their power actually looks like. Johnny Silverhand fronted Samurai and turned his war with Arasaka into an act of open rebellion that Night City still hasn't forgotten, even decades after his death at Adam Smasher's hands in the Arasaka Tower in 2023. He isn't remembered fondly by everyone, but he's remembered, and in this line of work that's the whole game.

== Charismatic Impact ==

A Rockerboy's defining skill is called Charismatic Impact, and it has nothing to do with holding a guitar. It's the raw force of someone's presence, whether that presence comes through music, poetry, dance, art, oratory, or simply walking into a room and owning it. Musicians, slam poets, street artists, comedians, orators, politicos, and cult leaders alike all draw on the same ability. The instrument doesn't matter. The effect does.

The Charisma that the rockerboys employ in their work is all about getting fans to flex and sometimes break the rules for them. A musician might whip a crowd into a frenzied riot to distract from a job or he might meet a guard who collects his swag and is willing to look the other way. Artists might sell their work to rich corpos and get invited to the big parties. An Actor can always bribe someone with an autograph and a smile. Even the rare rockerboy Porn Star(yes they exist) might be able to flirt their way past the cops.

The currency of Rockerboys is the fans, and all rockerboys have to learn the skill of spotting someone who might like their work. Maybe a few jokes draw the eye, a keychain with a band logo, or on some instances you might even spot some of your merch being worn on the job. This is easiest for the musician style of rockerboy but all of them learn this skill over time.

== Famous Rockerboys ==

'''James 'Rockerboy' Manson''' The First Rockerboy, A social activist and populist who operated before the era of the Cyberpunks. Manson was not a Rockerboy in the modern sense but his death at the hands of the UK police and his attempts to use music to advocate for a better world made him the icon that created the movement. He may not be the most famous today, But all Rockerboys know to pour a drink for James Manson.

'''Johnny Silverhand''' Also Known as Robert John Linder. The frontman for the Rock/Punk band Samurai, Silverhand is the most famous Rockerboy on the scene, a Terrorist to some an Icon to others. Known for his blistering hatred of megacorps(notably Arasaka and Militech) and his rage filled music meant to drive people to riot. Johnny is more than a little responsible for the time of the red and is very likely the Edgerunner with the highest deathcount to his name. He was killed by Adam Smasher in the Arasaka Tower in 2023 during the Night City Holocaust, and he never had the chance to see the Time of the Red he helped set in motion. You can still order a drink named after him at the Afterlife.

'''Kerry Eurodyne''' played alongside Silverhand in Samurai and, unlike his old bandmate, lived long enough to keep making music. His post Samurai Career was much less political and as a solo act he plays around the world. Today he is the owner of the Grand Illusion club in Night city, a multi platinum award winning musician, and the most eligible bachelor in night city. He's proof that a Rockerboy career doesn't have to end in a blaze of glory to mean something, sometimes the legend is the one who stuck around.

== The Trade ==

A Rockerboy's career is as different from each other as the ways that people have been creating new art, And every style of Rockerboy handles the world differently.

'''Musicians:''' The default style of Rockerboy and where they get their name. Musically inclined Rockerboys tend towards bombastic energy and egos the size of houses. It takes a special style of crazy to go into a job with a gun and guitar but more than one of these psychos has done that. Musicians can call their fans from miles around for a show if they need to and more than one impromptu concert has been a cover for a getaway or a heist.

'''Street Artists:''' One of the more Avant-garde types of rockerboy. Street Artists send a message with stickers, spray cans and in the case of the more technically inclined ones, swarms of mini-drones with spray nozzles. These are the Rockerboys who leave a calling card at every job. Sometimes its a logo, sometimes a signature, for the ones with the really big cojones its a whole mural made on the fly to mock their mark. Street Artists tend to have fewer fans but the ones they have are die hard, They also draw in sometimes very rich fans.

'''Actors:''' Sometimes to make your point you have to take on the face of another and Actor style Rockerboys are the best at being someone else. Scrolling BD's, Bringing in a flash mob of actors to protest government action, and for the really bold making custom masks and costumes to fully embody another person so you can rob the shit out of them. Actors must take on a lot of different skills and equipment but they can usually get in anywhere they need to go.
